Couples and Relationship Counselling and Psychosexual Therapy
Couples counselling and Psychosexual therapy are ways in which it may be possible to overcome a number of sexual and relationship problems. Both these services are offered by Jane Read.
Couples & Relationship Counselling
This can give you and your partner a chance to explore the problems you have, and to look at ways in which you can improve your relationship. Whether you are married, living together, or in a civil partnership, it may be possible to help deal with your relationship problems. With the therapist, you will explore your feelings, values, and ways of communicating with each other. This is often helpful in managing difficult and complex issues within a relationship.
Many people experience sexual problems at some point in their lives, perhaps due to a lack of confidence, or because of an illness, or because of medical intervention, or after having children. Psychosexual therapy may be helpful in dealing with difficulties with orgasm, pain during intercourse, low sex drive, difficulty in controlling ejaculation, and problems with erection.
It is often embarrassing or difficult for people to talk about sexual problems. With the help of the therapist, you will have the opportunity to discuss how the problems started, what might be affecting your sex life now and working out what you would like to be different. Medical conditions and treatments can affect sexual desire and satisfaction, and it will be part of the assessment process to ascertain if this may be the case.
In the consultation session, you will have an opportunity to discuss your problems further, in strict confidence, and to ascertain whether psychosexual therapy and/or relationship counselling may be appropriate. If it is mutually agreed to be appropriate then arrangements will be made to work together.
